About Dermalure

Dermalure is a professional skincare company specialized in the manufacturing of chemical peels and serums for anti-aging.

Dermalure products are made in the USA and paraben free, using medical grade ingredients.

Dermalure Jessner PeelSince 2007, Dermalure chemical peels have been used by physicians and aestheticians for performing chemical peel procedures in cosmetic clinics.

Dermalure peels and serums are available in varying degree of concentrations depending on skin type and level of required treatment. The lower level peels have a lower concentration of active ingredients for beginners or light peels that can be used at regular intervals to restore and rejuvenate the skin’s natural glow.

Jessner Solution 14%

Ingredients: Medical Grade Salicylic Acid (14%), Medical Grade Lactic Acid (14%), Medical Grade Resorcinol (14%), Denatured Ethyl Alcohol.

Active Ingredients: Lactic acid, Salicylic acid, Resorcinol

Jessner (pronounced Yessner) Peel is a combination of 3 acids, Lactic acid (AHA), Salicylic acid (BHA) and Resorcinol.

A traditional Jessner Peel is a 14% mixture of each acid. Resorcinol is equal parts of Hydroquinone and Catechol.

Jessner is the preferred peeling agent for those with oily, acne prone skin types because of its safety and enhanced efficiency of each individual ingredient. It can also be used for those with hyperpigmentation because it contains hydroquinone (7%).

Jessner Solution 14% is a medium strength superficial chemical peel but it will definitely cause more larger flakes than a singular hydroxy acid solution. The combination of Lactic acid, Salicylic acid and Resorcinol work together to create a stronger reaction in the skin and creates more sloughing of the skin.

It is a perfect choice to begin treatment for:

  • Congested skin with open and closed comedones
  • Whiteheads and blackheads
  • Back Acne
  • Chest Acne
  • Acne Scars
  • Cystic Acne (large, painful, blemishes without a point)

Jessner Solution can also be used as an anti-aging treatment for reducing fine lines and wrinkles and improving overall skin tone, texture and clarity.

A series of 6-8 treatments is recommended to achieve best results.

Pre-peel Treatment

Before any chemical peel treatment, it is important to note that there are certain contraindications. Hence, it is recommended that you have a consultation with and use a professional to apply any chemical peel product.

Pre-treatment is very important to get the best results from a chemical peel procedure to exfoliate the stratum corneum (the outermost horny layer of the epidermis). For at least 2 weeks before the peel, use a pH acidic cleanser to wash the face twice a day. Apply Dermalure AHA / BHA Acne Solution daily after washing your face.

Dermalure AHA / BHA Acne Solution is also used to prep your skin before you start your treatment. The solution cleans and balances your skin before your peel.

After your skin has been prepped, Jessner Solution is applied to face using a piece of gauze, avoiding contact with mucous membrane (eyes, lips, inside of nostrils or any other sensitive areas)

The skin is monitored for pain, redness, blanching or excess irritation. Dermalure Neutralizer may be used to stop the peel process.

Jessner Solution is generally applied in a series of 6 treatments. The frequency interval depends on the number of layers that is applied.

1 layer = 1-2 weeks

2-3 layers = 2-4 weeks

4+ layers = once every 1-2 months

What To Expect After The Peel

The end point of the peel is when the skin has “frosted” (turned a white colour), has an intense erythema (redness), or the peel has become too irritating.

If you had 1-2 layers of Jessner Solution applied, your skin may feel and look as though you have a sunburn (tan or brown colour) after about 2-3 days. It may also feel tight and will start to shed on approximately days 3-4.

Do not rub your skin or make exaggerated facial movements.

When washing your face, use a gentle cleanser, gently pat dry and apply some healing and moisturizing products throughout the day as needed to soothe your skin and speed its recovery. We recommend Dermalure Hyaluronic Acid Serum 100% – Calming and Firming Moisturizer.

The downtime and post-peel care following a peel is just as important as the peel procedure itself.

After any peel treatment it is important to keep your skin well moisturized with a quality, healing product for a quicker recovery time. Do not skip moisturization and do not pick on the dry skin to try to speed up the peeling. The new skin underneath needs to be protected to prevent hyper-pigmentation or possibly scarring.

You can expect about 3-4 days’ downtime. Most of the skin will be completely exfoliated in approximately 7-10 days.

If possible, you should avoid strong sun exposure for 2 weeks after the peel procedure. If you are going outdoors, apply a sunblock of at least SPF 30. It is advisable to continue using a sunblock as part of your daily skincare routine to protect your skin.

Benefits Of Jessner Peel

The three active ingredients in Jessner Solution make it a potent chemical exfoliating agent of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin), revealing clear, even and smooth skin underneath.

It has a wide range of indications, not just acne treatment. This peel is perfect for skin rejuvenation and reducing fine lines wrinkles, uneven skin tone and sun damage.

Jessner Solution has the benefit of being able to be applied in multiple layers that can give you a deeper peel than applying a singular hydroxy acid peel. This can be a second step after a salicylic acid peel to provide more flaking than a singular salicylic acid peel.

The layering also means that a more flexible interval between peels is possible. More layers may have a longer downtime but allows a less frequent schedule.
